Feed the brain, feed the body. If only it were that simple.

For months I sat in the family room and watched Kevan drill holes into nipples. I thought I’d seen it all. I decided that if Archie couldn’t handle pureed food I would juice it all and stick it in a bottle. He deserved to have some good home made food which ever way it came. It was a great idea at the time. Well my love potion blew up in my face. Literally. I was putting 5 fruits in the juicer and adding coconut oil, flax, probiotics you name it…my goal? To give Archie the best food possible. Result? I tasted regurgitated smoothie more than I’d like to admit.

I had to re group.

Trying to make each meal the same consistency was tricky, even with a juicer. I either added to much water, not enough, too many supplements, it was too thin, too thick, too lumpy, too stringy. My kitchen was a nightmare, and at the end of a long 16 hour day the last thing you want to do is come down to the kitchen at nearly midnight to scrub juicers and blenders. If that wasn’t bad enough, Archie was even more ticked off cause he was hungry and I was back in the kitchen poking more holes into nipples.

So we decided to throw out the bottles for meal time and pursue with pureed food. No love cocktail of different fruits. Just one fruit steamed and pureed. It worked. He loved it. He really loved it. We stuck with sweet potatoes and apples for the first month, just to be on the safe side! Now he is eating lots of food by spoon and is doing really well.

Now if only I could juggle holding Archie, supporting him, feeding him and drinking my cuppa tea i’ll be sorted!
