Kush Archie’s Blanket
Meet Kush. Our puppy or should I say horse?

Kust joined our family in November a wee bubbly bouncing 35 lb 9 week old St. Bernard. I honestly can not describe what joy he has brought to our lives. After coming to terms with how severely disabled our son Archie was, we decided that we all needed a therapy dog. Since Kush joined our family Archie’s seizures have decreased to 1 every 2 months, as opposed to 1-3 a week. He wakes up in the morning and the first thing he does (after sneaking into bed with me when Kevan goes to work) he checks up on the children. First Archie’s room, then Georgie’s than back to Archie. That dog will not go downstairs until has completely slobbered over all three of us! We began training Kush the minute he got home, no need to own an untrained elephant:) Once Kush turns 1, he will be going to Puppy Therapy School, where we can train him to detect seizures for Archie and possibly become a guide dog for him in the future. Emotional this huge puppy has reduced our stress, provided us with so much love and affection and has really encouraged other children to interact with a child with special needs.
Our plans were to train Kush to become a therapy dog for Archie and teach him to detect seizures before they happened. Unfortunately though Kush was diagnosed with severe Elbow and Hip Dysplasia at 18 months. The story of our lives! Of course our dog as hip issues just like Archie. His condition is quite severe but with daily massage and all my herbs he is going great. Sadly though we can’t train him for Archie any longer, as he is in no position to go through training. Regardless, he is our lap dog and is amazing with both the children, he’s our gentle giant and brings so much to the house.
